Welcome to the web home of McGill's Concussion Education Program. We are here to spread the word that concussions should be taken seriously, and to provide support for those suffering from a concussion. Team Up Against Concussion is a concussion education program directed to middle and high school students to teach them about head safety. If you are interested in being an educator, you can find out more here. Our Support section is designed to help individuals suffering from a concussion or post concussion syndrome. In addition to answering any questions you might have, our support group meets regularly. We hope you get involved & Love your brain!

Please check out the various ways to get involved in concussion education:

Become An Educator

By becoming an educator, you will receive the official Concussion Legacy Foundation training, which takes place in two sessions. After you have completed training, you will be able to sign up to give a presentation whenever there is an event happening. After you have completed 5 presentations, SLI McGill will provide you with an official certificate testifying to your work with us. Sign up at any point in the school year since we will run training sessions on a demand basis!

 Join Us To Present

Once you have completed your concussion training, you can sign up to present at organizations in Montreal. Typically 3-5 students present, so space is limited. We try to balance presentations between experienced presenters and those who are new to it. If you don't get selected for a specific presentation, you are still invited to tag along and see what its like!

Bring A Presentation To Your Organization

If you think a concussion education program would be beneficial for an organization you are involved in, please contact us. Typical presentations happen with schools, camps, and sports teams/groups. We can adapt to your needs. For more contact related sports, Parachute Canada has a great concussion tool kit!

Share Your Story

Check out the stories shared by our community about their own personal experience with concussions! If you are so inclined, feel free to add your story to the blog here. There are no limits on what you write, what ever you feel is valid. Sometimes sharing a tough experience can contribute to healing both in yourself, and for those who read it and feel the same way. The first person narrative can have a powerful impact on people. With your words, you might inspire someone else to take concussions more seriously.

Join Our Support Group

If you or someone you know has just received a concussion, please feel free to direct your questions here. We may not have all the answers, but we will do our best to provide you with as much information as we can. If we can't provide a thorough enough response, we will gladly point you in the right direction and forward some relevant resources. Our team includes individuals who have suffered long lasting concussions and have had to try many different treatment methods. We will do our best to help you! If you are currently experiencing a concussion in Montreal, we suggest you join our Concussion Support Group. The group is an informal opportunity to meet other people going through a similar situation.
